Very few people sharpen their knives as often as they should. Because dull knives happen like weight gain. Both seem to happen overnight, when in reality it’s a long slow process riddled with bad habits that can be hard, and costly, to correct.

Instead, it’s best to put knife sharpening in the same category as oil changes for your car, pet grooming, manicures, hair cuts, septic pumping, holidays, vacation and maybe maybe even church attendance. Just schedule it on a regular, predictable, recurring basis.

For home use, put it on your calendar to have knives sharpened every 3 or 6 months. For commercial kitchens, every 2 weeks, and not less than monthly is a smart thing to make happen.

Yes! We have a collection of knives we keep sharp just for this purpose. Nothing fancy, but they will for you during the couple days we have your knives. This FREE service is available only to people who use our scheduled drop off service, and the number of knives we hold for this purpose is limited. Send us a note in our contact form if you think you will need to borrow a few knives.

Not counting Saturday and Sunday, and most holidays, three days tops. Add shipping both ways to your planning if you are mailing items to us. Occasionally, we close the shop completely so everyone can focus on more important things, like family. You will see these business siestas in our calendar as unavailable for sharpening.
